Sitagliptin Phosphate 50 mg – a DPP-4 inhibitor
Metformin Hydrochloride 1000 mg – a biguanide class agent
This dual therapy is indicated for adults with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus who are unable to achieve adequate glycemic control with monotherapy. It is especially beneficial for those requiring a higher dose of Metformin to maintain blood sugar levels.
Sitagliptin increases incretin levels, which in turn stimulates insulin release and reduces glucagon secretion in a glucose-dependent manner. Metformin decreases hepatic glucose production, enhances insulin sensitivity, and improves peripheral glucose uptake.
Together, they provide a synergistic effect, resulting in improved fasting plasma glucose, postprandial glucose, and HbA1c levels—without significant weight gain or increased risk of hypoglycemia.
